PLAY WITH CONFIDENCE PROJECT
GIRLS ONLY HAVE A GO DAY

We’re excited to be hosting a GIRLS ONLY - HAVE A GO DAY event on Saturday 21st March 2026

The event is open to girls of all ages and is completely free!

This special club event will be run by myself alongside our Committee and Women’s First Team players. Our friends from The Period Place will also be there to deliver light-hearted, age-appropriate educational activities designed to help girls feel confident talking about periods and understanding their bodies in a supportive environment.

This will be a free event for all participants.

🗓 Saturday 21st March
⏰ 9am – 1pm
📍 Mangere Domain
💰 Free event!
👧 Open to all girls & all ages

The day will focus on creating a fun, inclusive and empowering space for our girls and will include:

  • Fun football-based activities

  • Small-sided games

  • Team-building challenges

  • Educational sessions around periods and feeling confident and comfortable playing sport in their bodies

We want to help normalise conversations around periods in sport and ensure our players feel supported both on and off the field. About 1 in 5 girls (around 18 %) aged 10–16 have considered dropping out of sport because of period-related challenges.

As part of the day, we will also be giving away free period products, including:

  • Pads

  • Tampons

  • Period underwear

Our aim is to remove barriers to participation and help our girls feel confident continuing to play the game they love.

We are also looking for additional parent volunteers to help on the day. If you are available and would like to support this event in any way, we would greatly appreciate your help. Please indicate this on the form.

We’re really looking forward to creating a positive and memorable experience for our girls. Any questions or feedback please contact Steph (steph.jones@omuafc.org.nz)
